About Calvin Christian School

Calvin Christian School (CCS) is an independent Christian school in Winnipeg, Manitoba, dedicated to developing the faith, character, and academic excellence of students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. For over 65 years, CCS has served the greater Winnipeg area by providing Christ-centered education that nurtures faith, wisdom, and service.

With more than 500 students across two campuses (elementary and collegiate), CCS is a vibrant and growing community. The school is governed by a parent-run board and is a member of the Prairie Centre for Christian Education, the Manitoba Federation of Independent Schools, Christian Schools Canada, and Christian Schools International.

Calvin Christian School also partners with Calvin Manitoba International School (CMIS) in South Korea, a Manitoba-affiliated international school that brings Canadian Christian education into the Korean context. This partnership is guided by an Operations Committee, with collaboration from the Head of School to support educational alignment and exchange opportunities.

Position Summary

The Board of Directors is seeking a visionary, spiritually grounded leader to serve as the Head of School and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This role provides strategic, spiritual, educational, and executive leadership for Calvin Christian School, guiding the organization into its next chapter of growth and excellence.

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Head of School and CEO serves as the school’s chief spiritual, educational, and administrative leader, ensuring alignment with the mission and vision of Calvin Christian School across all areas of operation.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Mission and Vision Leadership

  • Champion the school’s Christ-centered mission in all aspects of school life and operations.
  • Cultivate a spiritually nurturing environment for students, staff, and families.
  • Lead long-term strategic planning in partnership with the Board of Directors.

Educational and Instructional Oversight

  • Support and evaluate school principals to ensure the delivery of high-quality Christian education.
  • Promote excellence in teaching and learning grounded in a Biblical worldview.
  • Strengthen and model a positive, mission-aligned staff culture.
  • Provide leadership in professional development, collaboration, and spiritual growth for administration and staff.
  • Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of curricular standards.

Organizational and Operational Management

  • Provide executive leadership across all school operations, including finance, human resources, facilities, and transportation.
  • Ensure sound financial stewardship, budgeting, and responsible resource allocation.
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain high-quality Christian educators and staff.

Board and Governance Relations

  • Serve as the sole employee of the Board of Directors and act as the primary liaison between the Board and school operations.
  • Provide regular reporting and consultation to the Board in support of effective, policy-based governance.
  • Uphold Board policies and communicate strategic initiatives clearly and consistently.

Community Engagement and Advancement

  • Foster strong relationships with parents, alumni, donors, churches, and partner organizations.
  • Serve as the public face of the school to promote enrollment growth and donor development.
  • Support fundraising, communications, and advancement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • A graduate degree in Educational Leadership or an equivalent field.
  • A vibrant personal Christian faith with a commitment to the authority of Scripture and the Lordship of Christ.
  • Alignment with the school’s theological perspective and community standards.
  • Eligibility to hold a teaching certificate in the Province of Manitoba.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in education, including at least five (5) years in administration within Christian education.
  • Strong understanding of best educational practices and a passion for academic excellence.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, staff leadership, financial management, and board relations.
  • Highly developed relational, communication, human resource, and business management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising and donor development.
